Beat the Heat with Summer Songs

It’s the summer solstice. And right now, where many of us live, it’s hot, really hot.

I was thinking about finding some profound quote or otherworldly music to mark the solstice. Something that could help us feel peaceful and serene, something that would help lower the temperature.

But while looking for that kind of music, I stumbled onto another kind. On his website, someone named Riley compiled a fabulous list of classic summer songs. As Riley says, “There are 93 days of true summer. Ninety-three days between the summer and autumn solstices. Ninety-three days to bask in the sun and listen to summery songs that let us revel in the sweet heat of the season. There is just something about summer songs, am I right?”

He’s right! And really, if we can’t beat the heat, we might as well join it. Right?

I scrolled through his terrific list, played many of the songs, and pulled out a few that brought back memories and made me want to dance. Enjoy!
